Clydebank and District Golf Club’s location within the village of Hardgate is steeped in history, with the old Woollen Mills of Hardgate and Duntocher, now defunct, which were powered by water from the Kilpatrick Hills.Clydebank is also home of the famous John Brown Shipyards, where the luxury liners Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, the QE2, and many more, were built. The Queen Mary is now a floating hotel in Palm Beach, California. John Browns and William Beardmores had an early association with the Golf Club, assisting with finance to buy the ground for the course. The remains of the Antonine Wall run along the south boundary of the course at the 7th hole.
